A Small Addition with Big Changes at End of Life
EPS Resin⢠is a proprietary materials technology incorporated into conventional plastic during manufacturing.
At ~0.5% of the formulation, EPS Resin is designed to alter how the polymer behaves under specific biologically active end-of-life conditionsâwithout replacing the base resin or changing what the plastic is expected to do during its useful life.
The result is familiar, high-performance plastic with a new pathway after disposal.
Designed for Use First. Renewal Later.
RNG Plastics are engineered to remain plastics while they are productsâand to become biologically accessible when they reach the appropriate end-of-life environment.
- During Manufacturing: Designed to integrate into conventional plastic processing.
- During Useful Life: Maintains the performance expected from the underlying polymer.
- At End of Life: Specific environmental and biological conditions enable the conversion pathway.
It's better than recyclable. It's RENEWABLE!
Biotic Scission, Not Plastic Fragmentation
Not all plastic breakdown is the same.
Conventional environmental weathering can cause plastics to crack, embrittle and fragment into progressively smaller piecesâincluding microplasticsâwithout completing the conversion of the material to biogas. Polymer research specifically distinguishes physical fragmentation from molecular-level degradation. In layman's terms, instead of breaking into smaller pieces of plastic, the plastic is broken down at its most fundamental level.
RNG Plastics is designed for a different pathway: biotic scission.
Under appropriate biologically active end-of-life conditions, microbial activity acts on the polymer at the molecular level, progressively cleaving polymer chains and enabling the carbon to enter biological metabolic pathways rather than simply leaving smaller pieces of plastic behind.

No New Waste Stream Required
Many sustainability technologies depend on consumers correctly identifying, separating, cleaning and returning material through a dedicated recovery system.
RNG Plastics takes a different approach.
The technology is designed around an end-of-life pathway already used for enormous volumes of plastic waste: disposal into regulated landfill environments with methane recovery infrastructure (over 75% of landfills in the US, an increase of 18.5% since 2020).
That means the technology does not depend upon creating an entirely new consumer collection system before it can work.
